Oddly, it’s impossible to find anything out about ‘Ross Henery Professional’ which doesn’t fill one with optimism. Immediately from receiving the knives it is obvious that they are not a professional set of knives so don’t be misled if you are looking for that sort of quality.
The Eclipse Premium 9-Piece Chef’s Knife Set contains:
- Chef’s Knife
- Carving Knife
- Utility Knife
- Paring Knife
- Boning Knife
- Bread Knife
- Sharpening Steel
- A Meat Cleaver
- A Carving Fork
- All come secured in a black carry case
This 9-piece set is certainly comprehensive in its contents and this makes it great for the ambitious, amateur domestic chef. For just ordinary day to day cooking, chances are this set is a bit too much and some knives will be used very rarely, if at all. On the other end of the scale, the quality of construction just isn’t good enough for the professional kitchen, despite its range of knives. As a result, the ideal demographic for this knife set is perhaps a lot smaller than other knife sets.
The case that the knives are kept in isn’t poor in its design, but the quality isn’t particularly great and it looks like it may not last very long. The Velcro tabs for securing the knives are slightly haphazard but do the job. The way the case is designed, you would also need to only open it only on a flat surface to ensure that nothing slips out.
The knives are made from a single piece of stainless steel making them easy to clean, quite pleasant to hold and they certainly look good. For the average household kitchen though, having to open the case and locate the knife you need each and every time you need one, would start getting frustrating and time consuming quite quickly, despite their nice smooth look all together.

The knives are sharp and cut well although I should note that its Amazon reviews contain several that state their knives arrived blunt so that could be problematic if it occurs frequently.
Pros
- Wide range of knives that would cover all eventualities
- Easy to clean and have nice, sweeping lines
Cons
- May contain too much variation for the average domestic chef
- Case looks like it won’t hold up for very long
- Storing knives in the case will get annoying to retrieve quickly
Conclusion
Overall, this set of knives could be just the thing you’re looking for if you do extensive and varied cooking and would use all of the knives. However, if you are looking for professional kitchen quality, these probably won’t live up to your expectations. The demographic they would appeal to would possibly be students studying cookery as they don’t need the most expensive pro knives but they do need a good variety.
The case isn’t ideal from a quality and a practicality point of view and doesn’t look particularly attractive. Without a knife block for ease, you may struggle to find a suitable place for these sharp knives as there are so many and the case is not brilliant.
