Morphy Richards is a company that needs little introduction. They’re the ultimate appliance company really and have been chugging along happily for going on eighty years. Famous for products such as toasters, kettles and bread makers, Morphy Richards is a staple in the majority of British kitchens. They have a solid reputation as being a trustworthy company and producing high quality, affordable projects for the average person.
Morphy Richards have a habit of creating colour based collections which is an intelligent tactic as once you have a Morphy Richards specific coloured toaster, you feel compelled to by the matching accompaniments. Clever marketing it may be but they know their customers and this knife block is no different. If you want a colourful kitchen then this coloured Morphy Richards Accents set isn’t a bad place to start.

The Morphy Richards Accents Knife Block set contains:
- 7.5cm (3″) Paring Knife
- 12.5cm (5″) Utility Knife
- 20cm (8″) Slicing Knife
- 20cm (8″) Bread Knife
- 20cm (8″) Chef Knife
- Coloured steel knife block
This is a set of stainless steel forged knives which means the handle and blade are created from a single piece of metal. As a result, strength is second to none as there are no separate sections to break apart. You can really feel the integrity of these knives as you use them with no bend in the blade or wobble.
Made from high grade polished stainless steel, these knives look sleek and expensive, despite being very affordable. Their shiny handles match the shine from the coloured knife block and the set will give your kitchen a touch of modernity.
This knife set is from the accents range and the colour is called ‘plum’ by Morphy Richards – if you eat a plum that is this colour I suggest you stop; this is a bright indigo. Not to say it’s not a good colour but don’t go thinking you’ll receive something that is a typical shade of plum. The block sits well on the work surface on grippy rubber feet and, despite its high shine block, it doesn’t look cheap or tacky in the slightest.
Nicely heavy, these knives feel the quality they are and are satisfying to use. They may not be designed for professional use but they will certainly do wonders in the domestic kitchen and you’ll find it difficult to require better knives. They are easy to wash as there are no joining sections to attract dirt but without a grip handle, they can make you nervous.
Pros
- Easy and hygienic to clean and store
- Easy and hygienic to clean and store
- Forged, so stable and sturdy
- Affordable
Cons
- No grip on the handle, it doesn’t slip, but doesn’t give you that peace of mind that grip textures do
Conclusion
From a purely technical view, these knives are really good. They’re solid, a good weight, they feel nice and they slice easily. However, you really need to take a look at your kitchen before you buy them. They have an edgy, contemporary design that won’t suit a lot of styles of kitchen and a colour that could clash.
However, there are different colours available in the same style and each colour has a full Morphy Richards range of kitchen utensils and appliances to match so if it’s a matching kitchen you’re after, this knife set is a winner.
